A KEIGHLEY plasterer cemented a top spot in a national contest.
David Scott won a bronze medal in the SkillBuild final at Birmingham.
Competing against seven other student plasterers, he had to complete a range of tasks over three days.
Mr Scott, who last year studied at Craven College in Skipton, qualified for the final after winning a regional event in May.
A college spokesman said: “The judges described how the standard of plastering was the best they had seen in five years, making it very hard to reach a final decision.
“Although David himself was initially disappointed not to have come away with gold, he admits that he has done exceptionally well to be classed as the third best plasterer nationally.”
Mr Scott said: “Entering SkillBuild has been great for me.
“It has given me lots more confidence in my abilities and it also proves to future employers and customers that I can do a really good job.”
