TWELVE more employers across the region have won recognition for their efforts to get staff walking.
The businesses are the latest to receive Walk Friendly Workplace accreditation as part of West Yorkshire Combined Authority's £60m CityConnect programme.
In partnership with walking charity Living Streets, the CityConnect team works with employers to encourage people to commute on foot and build more walking into their working day.
Councillor Keith Wakefield, chairman of the combined authority's transport committee, said: "Walking brings many benefits – it can help reduce stress and the risk of preventable diseases and inspire creativity, as well as reducing travel costs and improving air quality.
"Encouraging more people to walk all or part of their commute can also help maintain a happy, healthy and collaborative workforce, which benefits businesses too.
"It's great to see so many organisations across our region are recognising this."
