BUSINESS leaders from across the district gathered for a breakfast event.

More than 100 people attended and heard about plans for the Bradford district in the year ahead.

Speakers at the event – at City Hall – included council leader Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, who outlined some of the achievements of the past 12 months.

She said the district had been declared by Barclays the best place to start a high-growth business, an education covenant had been set-up and supported by 5,000 businesses and partnership working had been praised by the Care Quality Commission.

Cllr Hinchcliffe said that in the year ahead, achievements would be built on through measures such as delivering the Bradford economic strategy, developing partnership working with the health sector and utilising the Education Opportunity Area.

She added: “There have been many achievements in the past year, making our district a better place in which to learn, live and work.

“These could not have been delivered without excellent partnership working between public services and businesses, as well as communities demonstrating a shared passion for – and commitment to – the success of the whole district.

“Despite the challenges and ongoing uncertainties of austerity, I am confident that we can build on the successes of the last year and continue to deliver progress into 2019.”
