Evri customers have reported delivery disruption across shops and Post Office branches as the parcel giant overhauls its collection network.
Parcels are reportedly piling up in ParcelShops, with some retailers saying collections have been delayed for several days as Evri introduces changes to its delivery network.
The disruption has been reported across the UK and is linked to Evri's move away from larger, more centralised depots towards smaller local sites.
The Post Office has confirmed that its branch network has been affected by the problems.
In messages sent to subpostmasters, the Post Office said Evri was moving “from larger central depots to smaller local depots” and that its recovery plan was still under way.
It said higher parcel volumes were continuing to put pressure on some collection routes.
Evri brings in extra vans and routes
Evri is understood to have introduced a series of measures aimed at clearing the backlog and easing pressure on its collection network.
These include:
- More than 100 additional collection routes
- Around 330 “sweeper vans” to clear outstanding collections
- Extra drivers to help reduce parcel backlogs
- Shorter collection routes to give drivers enough van capacity for branch collections
- Separate collection rounds where needed
- Monitoring driver locations to help ensure collections take place as planned
The Post Office said improvements were being made, although higher parcel volumes were continuing to put pressure on some routes.
Retailers have reported parcels remaining in their stores for several days, while some have also experienced problems with parcels being sent to the wrong shops or collections being left outstanding.

What has Evri said?
Evri apologised for disruption experienced by one affected ParcelShop and said its dedicated team was working with the retailer.
A spokesperson said the company was continuing to strengthen its ParcelShop network to meet parcel-volume demand and had introduced measures including additional routes to support service improvements.
The company has not given a specific date for when all of the reported disruption will be resolved.

Evri's network is undergoing major changes
The problems come as Evri continues to reshape its UK parcel operation.
The company has been investing heavily in its network following its merger with DHL eCommerce UK, with Evri announcing a £36 million network investment programme last year.
It has also announced plans to recruit more than 10,000 people as it prepares for further growth, with the group saying it now handles more than one billion parcels a year.

Evri operates ParcelShops, lockers and participating Post Office branches across the UK.
Its website says participating Post Offices can accept Evri parcels for drop-off, while its wider network includes ParcelShops and lockers.
For customers waiting for a parcel, delivery times are not guaranteed.
The Post Office says Evri provides delivery aims rather than guaranteed delivery times for its services.
Anyone experiencing a delay should check their tracking information for the latest update and contact Evri if the parcel remains outstanding.
