THE group in charge of looking after a popular, public green space in Oxenhope is on the hunt for more people prepared to get involved.

The trustees of Oxenhope Millennium Green, in Station Road, will be holding their annual general meeting this month.

Chris Coupland, who is one of the trustees, said: “After this next AGM we’ll be down to five trustees, so we could do with a few more.

“If we could get about eight to 10 that would be really good. We do want to have more village residents involved in what is a very well-used public area.”

He said the green’s biggest event each year is Oxenhope Village Fete, which this year will take place on July 14.

The trustees’ AGM is at 7.30pm on March 19 at the Lamb Inn, Denholme Road.

Mr Coupland added: “A lot of people think the green belongs to and is run by the council, but that’s not the case.

“We raise the funds for its upkeep ourselves and most of those funds are the proceeds from the fete.”
