A FRESH bout of snowy weather has brought renewed disruption to parts of Keighley district today.

Heavy snowfall earlier this morning made life difficult for motorists during rush hour, though conditions are forecast to clear up this afternoon.

Keighley Bus Company had to suspend all services from Keighley Bus Station at one point this morning, but a spokesman for the firm confirmed on Twitter that some services are now resuming.

A meeting of Bradford Council's Regulatory and Appeals Panel that was due to meet today at 10am in City Hall has been cancelled, due to the weather.

One of the items on the agenda was the plans to build a major new commercial development off Royd Ings Avenue, Keighley.

These plans have been recommended for refusal.

A Bradford Council spokesman said the Regulatory and Appeals Committee meeting would be re-arranged "as soon as possible".

Keighley schools closed today due to the snow include: Beechcliffe Special School, Crossflatts Primary, Cullingworth Village Primary, Denholme Primary, Holycroft Primary, Laycock Primary, Long Lee Primary, Parkside School, Parkwood Primary, Riddlesden St Mary's Primary, Stanbury Village Primary, Victoria Primary and Wilsden Primary.

A Bradford Council spokesman said: "Our bin crews are out this morning trying to catch up on missed collections from last week and yesterday.

"Please bear with us, the conditions are awful and with having extra waste to collect progress is slow.

"If we haven't emptied your bin as scheduled this week, there is no need to report it to us. All roads that we cannot reach are reported automatically, and our waste team managers know where we have and haven't managed to reach.

"Although we wouldn't normally take extra bags of rubbish, if we haven't been able to empty a property's bin due to the snow, we will take bagged up extra waste when we come back."
