A former Keighley paramedic who died earlier this year, aged 47, has had a bench placed in his memory at the town’s ambulance station.
The memorial bench for the late Mark Chipman was funded through donations received from ambulance staff and his friends, who together raised more than £400.
They decided to present Mark’s wife, Charlotte, and children Hanna, Luke and James, with the bench.
Mr Chipman had worked in Keighley for most of his 29 years’ service.
He died in Hull Royal Infirmary in January after suddenly falling ill.
At a memorial gathering at Keighley Ambulance Station the new bench was decorated with items representing what Mr Chipman had loved during his life.
Keighley paramedic Ray Graham, who was a friend of his for many years, said: “There was a very good turnout, with about 100 people attending.
“Despite the squally showers and wind the presentation was held outside and a buffet followed.
“We dressed the bench up with photographs and items that represented what Mark loved most in his life, namely his family, fishing, red wine and pies!”
In a speech he delivered at the event, Mr Graham said Mark was very special.
