Keighley boxer Muhammad Ali has bigger targets in mind after claiming his fifth national title.

The Bury Amateur Boxing Club teenager was crowned England junior ABA class five champion at 50-52kg thanks to victory over Brentwood’s Jake Harrison in the final at Mansfield.

Now the 16-year-old wants to earn another Three Nations win when he competes for England in Wales next month. The European Championships are also on his radar as well as the biggest prize of the lot – the Olympics.

Ali said: “It was a good feeling to win another national title but I want to win more and I’m aiming for a place in the GB podium squad for the next Olympics in Rio.”

Last Sunday’s final was stopped in the second round after Harrison’s persistent holding tactics.

Ali’s trainer Mike Jelly said: “He doesn’t like winning like that but the referee had given his opponent three public warnings. Ali is a class kid and it is very rare to win five national titles.”
