KEIGHLEY'S James Lund is one of two City of Bradford Swimming Club members who have been selected for the Yorkshire and Humberside Triathlon Academy for 2014-2015.

Lund, 15, and Reuben Mantle, 13, of Bingley have been picked following exceptional results in 200-metre swims and 1500-metre runs, and a subsequent interview.

The Yorkshire and Humberside Triathlon Academy is one of nine regional academies, which aims to encourage and support talented young athletes between the ages of 12 and 18 from across the region.

As part of the programme, the swimmers will take part in various day-long and weekend training sessions.

They will also have the opportunity to learn from and be influenced by international triathletes through sharing facilities with them and witnessing them training.

Both swimmers will be kept on the programme until September, when they will have to attend trials in the hope of being reselected.

The City of Bradford Swimming Club is the competitive outlet for Bradford Council's swimming development training scheme, offering professional coaching at the council's swimming pools.

They cover the whole of the Bradford district and offer children from the age of eight the opportunity to train and compete at the highest levels.

Meanwhile, Lund won a gold medal at both A and B Grade as City of Bradford competed in Harrogate Swimming Club's Janus Graded Meet at Harrogate Hydro.
