Wharfedale Triangle Premier League: Crossflatts 7 FC Cuedos 0

Striker Adam Rooney netted four goals in his side’s convincing win as his side remained on course for the treble.

Village lynchpin Kevin Gill returned to the centre of the defence after suspension alongside veteran Craig Durn – and the experienced pair didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon.

Rooney was unplayable and could have had a couple more goals if it wasn’t for the Cuedos keeper, who was in sensational form, foiling the Village front man from close range on two occasions.

He formed an excellent partnership up front with the returning Michael Garnett, a transfer deadline day re-signing by astute Village manager Stephen George. Garnett deservedly got himself on the scoresheet in the second half to cap a fantastic all-round display.

A goal from pacey winger Colin Schofield and an own goal completed the scoring.

Village’s attentions turn to the league cup on Sunday when they face The Malt Shovel in the quarter-finals. The ever-improving side are already through to the FA Keighley Cup final in May, where they will face Bradford Phoenix.
