THE Skipton Veteran’s Inter-District were not convincing again in their match against Castleford.

They did well in the away leg at Castleford Town, where they shared the winners and triumphed 17-11 thanks to good wins by Trevor Hargreaves, Mick Demain and Alistair Keighley.

But it was not so good in the home leg at Broughton Road, where the team won 15-13 but could only share the winners, their best performers were David Jacques, Len Buxton and Warren Burnett.

This insured a final score of 32-24 but was disappointing after overnight rain affected the fast surface in Skipton to level things up in Cas’s’ favour. Their final match is on August 10, against Leeds.

After all this summer's dry weather and endless sunshine, heavy rain wreaked havoc on Sunday in both local events and ones further afield.
