KEIGHLEY Cricket Club captain Paul Quinlan says he is confident his side can clinch promotion this weekend in a must-win game.

His second-placed side will clinch promotion to Bradford Premier League Championship One if they beat table-toppers Wakefield St Michael's on Saturday.

With just 11 points separating the two sides, this top-of-the-table clash is essentially a title decider as Quinlan's side aim to tie up promotion against their nearest rivals after an impressive season.

Keighley will round off their season with a trip to Northowram Fields on September 15.

Keighley, who need two points to seal promotion, are re-charged after a free weekend last week.

Quinlan said: "This is the biggest game of our season now. Essentially we have got to win.

"We are looking forward to it, to be fair. If we win our last two games, we win the league. The points are quite tight.

"It has been a two-horse race for pretty much all of the season, us and Wakefield.

"We have been fairly consistent all season.

"We are quite a young team. Richard Gould has scored more than 700 runs this season and Luke Chapman has done well too.

"Our good batting displays this season has meant we have chase down a lot of 200+ scores.

"Hopefully we will be celebrating on Saturday after the game."

Meanwhile, Keighley's second team, who are top, will guarantee the Championship Two Seconds' title if they beat Scholes on Saturday.
