BINGLEY Congs blew a golden opportunity to win Division One of the Mewies Craven League, losing to Haworth Road when a win would have seen them pip Barrowford, who were out of action.

Barrowford travelled to Ingrow and found the ground unplayable after rain so the game was abandoned. Therefore, victory would have sealed the title for Congs.

The visiting Haworth Road side had not read the script as they convincingly won by six wickets. Congs went first and stuttered to 117, as extras top scored with just 19.

In reply, Harry Greenhalgh finished with 3-40, but that was nowhere near enough for the desolate hosts.

Meanwhile, Denholme rounded off their season in sparkling form at home to Oakworth.

They crashed 254-9 with Callum Gerrard (72) leading the way as Lewis Wrathall (3-22) and Richard Cavender (3-21) kept the score in check.

The visitors started well but the innings faded and closed on 167-9. Jordan Powell hit a powerful 44 but Sarum Qureshi (3-28) Toby Priestley (3-29) and Cameron Foster (3-47) ensured a comfortable win for Denholme.

There was an exciting finish at Haworth where Crossflatts were the visitors. The hosts made 163, with Damian Rowell scoring 55, as Wasim Hussain took 3-24 and Jim O’Hara 3-34.

In Crossflatts' reply, Joe Greenwood hit 93 to see his side snatch victory by one wicket. Harry Reynoldson took 4-45 and Jamie Rowell 3-15 as the hosts just lost out.

The battle of the two relegated sides went to Hepworth and Idle. Sam Mitchell (35) helped Wilsden to 143 but Joe Allatt (66no) set up a six-wicket win for their opponents, despite Glenn Stableford taking 3-15.

At Embsay, the home side let the retiring Scott Robinson down as they struggled to 123. Richard Walker claimed 6-25 as visiting Sutton ran riot.

Sam Solley (81no) and Dave Snowden (39) put on 117 for the opening partnership in reply to set up a comfortable nine-wicket victory.

Foulridge and Cowling comfortably won promotion from Division Two, but Airedale consolidated their status as best of the rest with an easy win at home to Long Lee.

They made 179-4, with Chris Gill (62) and Paul Feather (32) putting on 120 for the fourth wicket. The visitors could only manage 98 in reply. Lee Humphreys top scoring with 36 as Mohammed Qadeer Hanif took 3-28.

Charles Calvert (33) and Andrew Starkey (32) helped Cononley to 163-8 at Haworth Road II and the home side could only manage 139 in reply as Matthew Phillips (4-21) took the bowling honours.

Finally, relegated Glusburn’s game with Chatburn was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
