RIDDLESDEN were pipped to promotion in Division Three of the Mewies Craven Cricket League after a controversial no-result at leaders Barrowford II.

The wicket was not adequately prepared and was therefore unplayable, much to the frustration of the visitors. Their solitary point left them vulnerable to Crossflatts II, who were in third place.

Their rivals hosted Bradley and nicked that second promotion spot with a thumping eight-wicket win.

The visitors were knocked over for just 63 thanks to Mark Pennington's splendid 8-35 and Crossflatts chased that down in only 12 overs.

Elsewhere, Tim Burnley (79) and Dave Hemsley (77) put on 158 for the opening partnership, which set up Bingley Congs II's huge score of 297-5.

Steve Broughton then took 4-7 to go with Asher Nutting’s 3-40 as Hepworth & Idle II replied with 118, of which Mark Davies made 45.

Shahid Mahmood claimed 4-20 as Embsay II dismissed hosts Oakworth II for just 115, despite skipper Michael Scarborough hitting an unbeaten 46. George Maloney (27) ensured Embsay strolled to a five-wicket win.

Eight-man hosts Thornton were no match for Skipton CI. They only made 128-7, with Steve Laycock (48) top scoring, as Rob Cockell (4-26) took the bowling honours.

In reply, Ian Henderson struck 78no to see the visitors to victory by nine wickets.

Sutton II earned their first home win of the season against Haworth II. The hosts only managed 114 after Oliver Bishop took 4-31 and Danny Spencer 3-11.

However, George Elrick (4-13) and George Blackwell (3-7) ran riot with the ball to dismiss the visitors for just 40.

Division Four champions Chatburn II easily beat Airedale II by six wickets, while the battle for second spot between Foulridge II and Silsden went emphatically to the former by 76 runs.

Foulridge II scored 185-8 before dismissing Silsden for just 109, for whom Jack Roberts made 59. Both sides will be promoted though due to Chatburn leaving the league.

A youthful Cononley II only managed 101 at home to Oakworth III and were promptly beaten by six wickets.

Gargrave II were 85-6 chasing Denholme II's modest 112, but lost their last four wickets for only four runs.

Skipton CI II battled their way to 115-7 at Sandylands and visitors Bingley Congs III could only muster 59 in reply.

Finally, Bradley II conceded to Glusburn II and Cowling II v Ingrow II was abandoned.
