BRIGHOUSE Town Ladies put on a five-star show as they thrashed their Penrith AFC counterparts 5-0 in the Second Qualifying Round of the SSE Women's FA Cup.

Charlotte Proud came off the bench to bag a brace for Town, putting the icing on the cake after an excellent first half display.

They caught their Cumbrian opponents on the hop with two quick goals from Ami Beresford and Kayleigh Bamforth, before Abi Housecroft made it three with a fine finish.

Proud replaced Lindsay Tugby early in the second half and she netted after an error by the opposition goalkeeper, before wrapping up the scoring with a sublime lob.

Their fellow FA Women's National League Division One North side Leeds United LFC also won, although they had to work hard to secure a 3-2 win at Alnwick Town.

The scores were level heading into extra-time, but Emma Lee's fabulous free-kick eventually settled the game in the away side's favour.

In the FA WNL Premier Division, struggling Bradford City Women collapsed to their sixth successive defeat, losing 8-0 at home to Huddersfield Town Ladies.

A good start was undone thanks to a 12th minute own goal and thereafter the game became an uphill task for City.

They let in four more goals before the break and also lost Falone Sumaili to injury during the game at Eccleshill United's Mitton Group Stadium.

After letting in a sixth straight after half-time, City then saw Demi Pringle hobble off. They conceded two late goals to compound a miserable afternoon.

They have conceded 22 goals in their last three games and will hope to perform better when they host Middlesbrough this weekend.

Elsewhere, the top-two clash between Hepworth United and Bradford Park Avenue Ladies ended level in the West Riding County Women's Premier Division.

The former had established a two goal lead at the interval but a rousing comeback saw Ann-Marie Roberts and Katie Dormer earn Avenue a point.

Brighouse Athletic Ladies dismantled Brayton Belles after a stunning second-half performance to move into third.

They were only one ahead at half-time, but six goals after the break ensured an 8-1 victory. Sarah Hemingway hit four, while Debbie Dangerfield bagged a brace.

Isobel Di Franco scored for Silsden but they were hammered 5-1 by Yorkshire Amateur as they slipped to third-bottom in the embryonic table.

Thackley only faced Leeds City with 10 men in Division One, yet they still managed to steer themselves to a comfortable 3-0 away win.

Meanwhile, Tyersal earned a thrilling 3-3 draw at Republica Internationale thanks to Abbie Tate's hat-trick.

Camille Clarke scored five times for Farsley Celtic Juniors as they hammered visitors Huddersfield Amateur 12-1 in Division Two. There was also a well-deserved hat-trick from Katie Platts.

Their reserves also won 3-1 against Bradford side Phoenix FC, as substitute Hannah Spencer rounded off the scoring.

Both sides are in the top four but will do well to catch Ossett United Reserves, who thumped Pontefract Sports and Social 17-0 away from home.
