MANORLANDS’ cycle events group is celebrating the end of another successful season of sportive and mountain bike challenges with this summer’s events having raised a total of more than £15,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.
Supported by Yorkshire cycling retailer All Terrain Cycles, the annual series of cycling challenges finished with 230 riders taking part in the Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge.
This event raised £8,500 towards the total with Louise Seal becoming the first woman to win the 21.9-mile ‘Emily’ crossing the finish line sponsored by Colin Appleyard Ltd with a time of three hours and 37 minutes. Tim Small also put in an impressive performance, coming first in the longest ride, the 35.1-mile ‘Heathcliff’, having taken part in the challenge since he was a child, riding the shorter routes.
The Bronte MBT Challenge followed the popular Bronte Sportive in July.
