Harrogate Railway u16s 0

STEETON Under-16s produced their best performance of the season with a 5-0 demolition of Harrogate Railway in the County Cup first round.

Chevrons were getting lots of joy switching the ball from right to left with the Ambler brothers, Danny and Jacob, tormenting the Harrogate full-backs constantly.

On 15 minutes, Danny Ambler beat his man then powered his way to the byline before crossing the ball into the box, Lewis Gardner met it with his head but the ball just looped over the crossbar.

Steeton's dominance needed a goal and it came on 24 minutes. Harrogate were on the attack but were dispossessed by Foysol Ullah, who played the ball to Ciaran in midfield. His first-time hook pass over the top fell to Sharp, who ran clear and confidently dispatched.

Two minutes later it was 2-0. Danny Ambler again powered his was past the Harrogate defence down the right-hand side before delivering an absolute beauty of a low drive cross which was met on the volley six yards out by Lewis Gardner.

Steeton had two further chances before half-time, with Gardner dragging a shot wide and Barney hitting a free-kick over the crossbar.

The second half continued to be one-way traffic and the fourth goal came on 52 minutes.

This time Harris Khan played Gardner in on goal but this time he was bundled over in the box by the Harrogate defender for a penalty. Sharp took the spot-kick and smashed the ball into the top left-hand corner.

Sharp then had a shot from 20 yards which was saved brilliantly by the Harrogate keeper after good work from San Woodward and Foysol Ullah winning the ball back and playing the ball forward.

One of the moves of the match resulted in the 5th goal, the ball started on the right with Woodward and moved across the back four ending with Barney Cope, he played the ball to Gardner who then dropped it off with Jacob Ambler.

Ambler then played a lovely little pass behind the Harrogate defence for Gardner to score with a shot into the bottom right-hand corner to complete his hat-trick for the Chevrons.
