West Leeds 25 Bradford & Bingley 48

BRADFORD & Bingley ran in 29 unanswered points in the final 25 minutes of their Yorkshire Cup First Round away clash against West Leeds to earn a tie at Ilkley on November 10.

By the end, the Bees were dominating everywhere and had West Leeds on the back foot across all areas of the pitch.

Tom Cummins, Alex Keeton, Ante Majic and Tom Booth were a constant threat in the pack and Gene Te Amo proved unstoppable in the centre.

The new signing from the Cook Islands scored twice in this contest and looks to be a tremendous find, who looks sure to collect several more scores when the Bees return to league action.

The home side started brightly though and were 11 points ahead after just 10 minutes. Campbell Breakwell helped himself to a try, a conversion and a penalty in the opening exchanges before the visitors had settled.

Cameron Bainbridge rectified that situation somewhat when he powered down the right wing to score and Lance Taylor added the extras.

However, the hosts' Sam Neave collected a five pointer and Breakwell improved the score to 17-7. The Bees replied immediately through Max Mountain, who burst through the final defender to go over on the right.

Less than 10 minutes before the interval, Breakwell added a penalty to stretch the lead to 20-12. The Bees then shunned a couple of opportunities to kick at goal which could have narrowed the gap, and remained eight behind at the break.

Keeton barged his way to the line with three minutes played in the second half and Taylor obliged with the extras as the Bees pulled the game back to a single point margin.

The home side did not waste any time in extending their lead back to six though as Eliah Chitiyo galloped home with 47 minutes played to make it 25-19.

The Bees began taking the game by the scruff of the neck, with Tom Johnson pulling the strings at stand off, although everyone across the backline was looking to get involved.

Taylor was the man to benefit, motoring through a gap in the West Leeds defence to score with 54 minutes played. The missed conversion left Bradford & Bingley a point behind at 25-24.

The visitors were beginning to get Te Amo more involved though and his strength saw him power over on 62 minutes. Taylor added the conversion and then slotted a penalty to put his side nine points ahead.

The Bees were now entrenched in West Leeds territory and Majic soon broke free to claim a converted try. Finally, as the clock ticked into added time, Te Amo broke free on the right and plunged over in the corner.

Taylor saved his best kick of the day for the conversion from out wide and the Bees can now look forward to that trip to Ilkley in Round Two.
