DANNY Forrest wants his Silsden side to enjoy their FA Vase distraction from league competition this weekend.

The third-placed Cobbydalers will look to put what Forrest dubs a "blip" in Hallmark Security League Premier Division behind them when they travel to Chesterfield on Saturday to face Staveley Miners Welfare.

Silsden will battle a Staveley side who, despite being 12th in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, have made a good start to the season, losing just one of their opening seven games.

Forrest said: "We want to win every game. The league is the priority, the rest of it is a bonus.

"Any FA competition, whether it's the Vase, Trophy or Cup, is good exposure for us as a club. Players can make a name for themselves.

"We have already beaten two strong teams; Harrogate Railway and Albion, so far.

"Staveley will be very, very tough. We will go down to their place with a bit of confidence. It is something a bit different for us. They are in a different league to us.

"We have had a few good away trips already this season. They have also been strong in the cup this season.

"Underdogs? Who knows. I don't pay attention to that.

"The cup gives us a fresh outlook this week. It is something a little bit different for us."

Forrest added he was not worried about his side dropping points in their last three league games, including Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Runcorn Town.

He said: "I'm not too concerned if I'm honest. We have got goals in the team.

"We have played some quality sides already.

"Saturday was a tough game and it was down to fine margins. They were there for the taking, but they got the first goal. They picked us off. I didn't think it was a 3-0 game as such.

"I think overall we are competing and doing well in the league. We have drawn with City of Liverpool and lost to Northwich and Runcorn over the last couple of weeks. Everyone of those games could have gone either way. But I'm not getting down about it, we are competing with everyone. I think it is just a blip.

"It is a step up in class from last season for us. After the Vase tie, we have a good run of games coming up."
