THE fixture computer has handed Bradford & Bingley and Cleckheaton difficult away fixtures so far in North One East, and tomorrow is no different for derby rivals who are in the bottom half of the table.

However, far from having the jitters about facing opponents who are first and third in the table, the Bees and Cleckheaton are relishing their respective challenges.

Anthony Posa’s Bradford & Bingley are at leaders York, while Thiu Barnard’s Cleckheaton travel even further north to Morpeth.

It is the second time in four weeks that the Bees have visited the front-runners but they only lost 22-21 to Morpeth then with the last play of the game, and the Bees are definitely on an upward curve.

In between time they have beaten West Leeds at Wagon Lane in the league – their first success – and followed it with a victory over the same opponents last weekend in the Yorkshire Cup at Bluehill Lane.

Posa said: “If anything, West Leeds were stronger last weekend and we were down by 10 or 12 points inside the first 20 minutes.

“But we were better in the second quarter and outstanding in the second half, where we scored five tries in the last 25 minutes.

“We are improving week on week, have been for a while, and it is definitely coming together. We are looking forward to the test.”

The Bees will make late decisions on Kiwi centre Stefan Roguski, who made his debut at Morpeth and also played in the league match against West Leeds, and Aaron Magee.

Barnard echoed Posa’s thoughts, saying about the trip to Morpeth: “I am excited and looking forward to it.

“For once we had a lengthy selection meeting for the right reasons. We have a lot of front rows to choose from, three second rows and five back-rowers.

“However, we will be missing back-rowers in Josh Plunkett and Jack Seddon, but Paul Turner is available in the front row after his red card was ruled as sufficient punishment.”

Old Grovians, who host Wheatley Hills in Yorkshire Division Three, are set to give a debut to No 8 Nick Honey and welcome back flanker Tim Jones, centre Toby Harris and centre or back-rower Gareth Phillips, who is likely to start on the bench.

Grovians’ head coach Dan Nulty explained: “Toby has moved back up north, while Nick is an Australian who is working at Bradford Grammar School.

”However, we are without Ryan Lister, so Ben Brown will start at nine, but I haven't decided yet who will play at 10."
