ROSS Peltier and Jon Magrin are in the Jamaica squad for the Americas Championship next month.

The Bulls props are among the 29-man selection which includes Super League’s Ben Jones-Bishop – who is chosen alongside his brother Aaron - and Ashton Golding, who are both in line for their debuts.

Peltier has enjoyed a successful season helping Bradford to promotion from League One while Magrin is returning to Odsal following a spell with Sheffield Eagles.

The University of North Florida, Jacksonville, will host two double-header rounds on November 13 and 17, with the Reggae Warriors meeting Canada and the winners facing either USA or Chile.

The competition also acts as a qualifier for the 2021 World Cup in England.

Former Cougars Jode Sheriffe and Jy-Mel Coleman are also in the squad, along with ex-Bull Omari Caro, while Halifax three-quarter James Woodburn-Hall is in line for his bow.

Former Dewsbury head coach and Bulls player Glenn Morrison, who oversaw Jamaica’s 16-all draw with Wales in 2016, will still be involved in the preparations.

JRLA director of rugby Romeo Monteith said: “It’s our third World Cup Qualifiers campaign and we are assembling a competitive squad.

“Our aim is to bring increased attention to our abilities as a rising rugby league nation and, should we qualify, it will be a massive boost for the sport on the island."

He added: “Every player has gone into his pocket to contribute to costs, it’s the only way it has been possible.”
