KEIGHLEY Cougars Women have continued their recruitment drive for the 2019 season with the signing of Joanne Ollerenshaw.

The hooker arrives at Cougar Park from Bradford Bulls, becoming the third player after Claire Garner and Jess Courtman to move across the postcode from Odsal.

During her time at Odsal, Ollerenshaw played her part in the Bulls ‘invincibles’ season in 2017 that saw the club win both the Super League and Challenge Cup double after going through the entire season unbeaten.

Speaking of his latest recruit, Women's head coach Dean Muir said: “I’m extremely happy to get Jo over the line as we continue to build for next season.

“The first thing I said when I took the job is that it is crucial to get the spine of the squad in place as quickly as possible and a hooker with the experience and talent of Joanne is another step in doing that.

“Having Jo joining Claire and Jess makes it easy for them to settle into the club and the squad and gives me a talented core to build around and for the younger women in the squad to look up too and learn from.

“The support we’ve had from Shane Spencer and Steve Gill has been superb and hopefully we can continue to build for our main goal, which is to give Keighley as a town and Cougars as a club a Super League women’s team it can really get behind.”

They join a squad which will also include Olivia Chester, Olivia Schepisi and Chelsey Holder, who have all been retained for 2019.
