Nab Wood u18s 2

Steeton u18s 8

THE young chevrons recorded their fifth win in five league games at Nab Wood.

The game started fairly even with Nab Wood using the long ball to utilise their pacy front man, but it was Steeton who scored first through Harry Farnell.

The move started with goalkeeper Elliot Wilson's quick throw to Tom Crossland in midfield who controlled and floated a perfectly waited pass over Nab Wood's defence for Farnell to control on the run and finish past the keeper.

The second was to follow shortly after with Dominic Westcott driving run down the left-hand side past three players and picked out Farnell who drove the ball home.

Nab Wood got themselves off the mark when a mix-up in defence allowed their striker to collect the ball and finish into an empty net.

Tom Crossland regained Steeton's two-goal lead. Farnell picked him out in the box, he controlled the ball, muscled past one defender, then rounded the keeper to tap the ball home.

His second and Steeton's fourth followed, Farnell this time picked him out with a cross to the back post, he controlled and slid the ball home to finish off the move.

Steeton's fifth was converted by Farnell. The move started in midfield with a back heal from Will Kaye. A first-time pass by Crossland found Farnell 20 yards from goal. He drove into the box and finished past the keeper into the right-hand corner of the goal to score his third.

Next to get on the scoresheet was Chris Emmott, playing only his second game for the club. From a corner, he won the ball in the air first but his header got blocked, he was then first to react and poke the ball home from six yards out.

Number seven was individual quality, Will Kaye picked the ball up in midfield, skipped past three players and, with his left foot, fired the ball into the top right corner of the net past the stranded Nab Wood keeper.

The next goal was Nab Wood's with their pacy front man down Steeton's left-hand side, using his pace he drove past the defender and finished coolly into the bottom left-hand corner of the net giving Wilson no chance.

The eighth was a bit fortunate when an attempted ball over the top by Emmott was met by the Nab Wood centre-half, who directed his header over his own keeper into the empty net.
