DESPITE having the opportunity to win a turkey there was a disappointing turnout at Settle Golf Club at the weekend for the annual turkey shoot.
Playing conditions were extremely difficult and it was not surprising that a score of 30 stableford points proved good enough to win the competition.
Club secretary Peter Johnson, the club's in-form player, just held off the challenge of newly appointed club captain Mike Elstub by one point.
Johnson's round contained an outstanding four gross pars.
Ray Jones took the third spot with 28 points.
