FAMILY run Bentham Golf Course has become a certified course vetted by the organisations SafeGolf and EnglandGolf.
SafeGolf is a partnership of UK golf bodies committed to promoting a safe and positive environment for all those participating, working and volunteering in the sport of golf.
The certification was acquired after an inspection confirmed the club had met the standards set by SafeGolf and shares their mission to safeguard the welfare of children and young people as well as adults at risk.
Nick Barron, Professional Golf Association club pro at Bentham Golf Course, said: "Children are the lifeblood of the club going forward and our tuition program is a key part of our offering, with coaching available for all age groups from tots to teens.
"Working with SafeGolf helps to give parents and newcomers the peace of mind to know that we have stringent checks ensuring this a safe and rewarding environment for everyone."
