A SILSDEN boxer Danny Whitaker has signed his first professional contract.
The 28-year-old put pen to paper with York professional boxing manager Glen Banks.
"He will be guiding me on my professional boxing journey," said Whitaker.
"I'm hoping to have my first pro fight in May this year after my interview and medical with the British Boxing Board of Control.
Whitaker won his last fight, knocking his opponent Karl Cook out in the first round with a right hook in front of 4,000 people at Motor Point Arena, Nottingham, last month.
Whitaker added: "This gave me the confidence to push forward to the pro game and really test my self against the best.
"As I’m 28 years old now, it’s now or never and I don't want any regrets.
"I will also be getting coached by new pro boxing coach Paul Newby at NCAA Silsden," he added.
"As a team we hope to take the English pro heavyweight rankings by storm in the coming years.
"I have a massive following and would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the past few years and even more so in the years to come."
