SILSDEN suffered a second consecutive defeat to a side below them in the North West Counties League top tier as they ended with nine men at West Didsbury & Chorlton.
The Cobbydalers created several chances before the hosts broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Stephen Hall’s shot went in off Sils defender Arley Barnes.
The sides were reduced in numbers soon after when Joe Gaughan and goalscorer Hall were both dismissed following the same incident.
Danny Forrest’s men were back in the game just two minutes after the break when Luke Rhodes converted a corner at the near post.
However, the hosts claimed a 2-1 victory in the 55th minute when Thomas Horner netted a superb shot after the ball dropped for him on the edge of the area.
Two minutes into stoppage-time, the Cobbydalers lost keeper Callum Jakovlevs after he raced out of his area and brought West substitute Lee Gavin down.
Steeton had to settle for a point at home in Division One following a sea-saw game against Ashton Town, which ended 3-3.
Ben Clarkson had given the Chevrons a sixth-minute lead but a Luke Edwards strike before the break saw the sides changing round all square.
Ashton enjoyed a good spell after the hour mark and they edged in front through James Sigsworth.
But Roy Mason’s men seized the initiative back with two goals in as many minutes – Andy Briggs and substitute Toby Jeffery both on target.
The visitors had the last word though and it was somewhat self inflicted. A foul by Sam Rooke gifted Ashton a late penalty and defender Antony Shanks neatly tucked it past Fletcher Paley.
