A KEIGHLEY-born professional footballer has been nominated for a prestigious monthly fans' prize.

Matty Pearson, 25, who plays for Luton Town, has been shortlisted for the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans' League One player of the month prize for January.

His performances in defence have helped guide the Hatters six points clear at the top of League One.

His impressive January also included scoring in Luton's 3-0 win at Shrewsbury Town last weekend, this followed up being on the scoresheet in Mick Harford's side's 1-0 win over Southend United.

He faces competition from his own team-mate after James Collins was also nominated for the prize.

They have both helped Harford's side picking up 11 points from five games, notably securing important results against Sunderland, Peterborough and Portsmouth.

Pearson helped the Town keep three clean sheets in five league games. Meanwhile, Collins scored six times in five league games, including a hat-trick against Peterborough and a brace against Portsmouth.

The Luton duo are against Walsall's Andy Cook, Plymouth Argyle's Ruben Lameiras, Barnsley's Alex Mowatt and Charlton Athletic's Ben Purrington.

Fans have until 8am tomorrow to vote in the poll. Go to footballfancast.com/pfa-awards to vote.
