THACKLEY AFC young forward Asa Mitchell has won an NCEL award.

The 17-year-old striker bagged the Premier Division Player of the Month fans' vote after some fine January form.

Mitchell's month started with a bang, grabbing two goals in two starts for his side's first two fixtures.

This including one in a tight 4-3 away win at Hall Road Rangers.

The youngster took part in a further three games in the month, coming on from the bench in those matches.

In Thackley's final game of the month, Mitchell came on in the 69th minute and took his tally to three in five for January with a goal five minutes later.

Mitchell secured a huge 35.55 per cent of the fan vote for the award.

Worksop Town top scorer Matthew Sykes had less than half that, with 12.7 per cent of the vote.

Thackley host title challengers Yorkshire Amateur this Saturday and will have to try handle another in-form player in Prem top scorer Ashley Flynn who has 28 for the season already.

A victory for 16th-placed Thackley, and a loss for Albion Sport directly below, could see them move away from their Bradford rivals who share the same amount of points currently.

Albion also come up against a side above them in the division, visiting Handsworth Parramore who are eighth.

Liversedge, in 14th, should have a relatively simple task at home to relegation threatened Hall Road Rangers who have shipped, a league high, 78 goals so far this season.

Fourth-placed Eccleshill are set to play their first game since January 12, when they host Maltby Main at the weekend.

In Division One, Campion will expect to extend their unbeaten run, which began in September, into February in their home game against mid-table Shirebrook Town.

In the Hallmark Security League Prem, 12th-placed Silsden will hope to build on their impressive victory against leaders City of Liverpool in January, when they visit Squires Gate on Saturday.

Steeton, in the division below, face Daisy Hill away in their fixture.

Other fixtures: Evo-Stik League Premier Division, Farsley Celtic v Nantwich Town, Evo-Stik East Division, Brighouse Town v Tadcaster Albion.
