SILSDEN manager Danny Forrest says he is frustrated at the organisation of his side's fixtures as they are forced to take another break from action after playing one game in the last five weeks.

The Cobbydalers played their first game in 28 days in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division on Saturday when they played out a home goalless draw with 1874 Northwich. Silsden were forced onto the sidelines for four weeks before due to a postponement due to a waterlogged pitch and their opponents being involved in cup competitions.

Silsden now have a blank weekend after their game against Northwich Victoria on Saturday has been postponed, because they have to play their postponed FA Vase semi-final second leg at Chertsey Town on that day instead.

Forrest's men are 12th in the table on 44 points, after 13 wins from 32 games this season.

He said his side's fixtures list was stacked up before Christmas in a bid to combat any potential post-Christmas bad weather causing postponements. Instead, they have had a few free Saturdays from action.

The former Bradford City striker, who scored five goals in 50 appearances for the Bantams between 2002 and 2005, said: "As a manager, I'm gutted for the players and really disappointed it's ended up like this really.

"It does not make any sense at all. You can't blame the weather, it is down to the lack of organisation.

"For a club like ours we need regular homes games for the cash flow and keeping an interest in the club.

"It should be better planned by the league. The break has effected the club as a whole, it's broken our momentum.

"When we come back, we now have five games in 14 days and four of these are in eight days. It's baffling.

"I have never, ever experienced anything like this before in my career."

Despite the break in action, Forrest praised his squad for remaining focused as they instead train three times a week.

He added: "They have been absolutely brilliant, I could not ask for anymore from them.

"They have been very motivated and driven as a group. They have trained three times a week throughout this period. The lads have kept going.

"Some players might have lost a little bit of interest, but I can't see that from my players.

"It's frustrating. We are looking around to arrange friendlies and play. After training on Saturday morning, me and the coaching staff are watching other games.

"We want to be playing again."
