THE new 20/20 format came into play for the Wynn Cup on Sunday.

The competition had five matches in the round one, one of which was conceded.

There was a phenomenal feat at Haworth where Barrowford II were the visitors.

Barrowford batted first and smashed 221-4 in their 20 overs. Ulfat Ali fired nine fours and 18 sixes in a 65-ball knock of 162. Shell-shocked Haworth replied with 78-9 as Damian Rowell (24) top scored and Abdul Mannam took 2-4 and Marc Atkinson 2-12.

The holders, Embsay, are safely through to the next round after beating Sandy Lane by eight wickets.

Sandy Lane quickly found themselves 4-5 and it took knocks of 40no from Mukhtar Shah and 34 by Zahid Hussain to get them to 94-8. Haroon Ali who took three wickets in his first over finished with 4-15.

Over at Hepworth & Idle, visitors Bingley Congs made 125 with Johandre Barnard making 50 as Thomas Hawksworth took 2-23.

Hepworth & Idle could only muster 55 in reply as Mark Roberts (4-11) and Danny Pearson (4-21) tore through the batting.

There was a surprise up at Denholme where Division Two side Eldwick & Gilstead saw off their hosts by eight wickets.

Denholme were restricted to 62 with Andy Stephenson (2-2) and Jordan Bayliss (2-14) taking the bowling honours. Alfred Raistrick (32) led the visitors to the next round.

Airedale conceded their tie to Long Lee.

One other tie was allowed to switch to next week. Wilsden should have entertained Crossflatts. However, the latter had been given permission by the executive committee to represent the area in the ECB National Village Cup. They entertained and beat Streethouses of the Pontefract League.
