A BLAST from the past has returned to Keighley Cougars as new head coach Rhys Lovegrove starts to mould his squad.

Ryan Wright has re-joined Cougars on an initial month's loan deal from fellow Betfred League One outfit Hunslet.

The 27-year-old hooker played 18 times for Cougars during the 2018 season, scoring two tries, before joining Hunslet in July last year due to financial problems at Keighley.

Wright began his career with Leeds Rhinos before moving to Wakefield Trinity and coming through the academy system there.

He started his career in 2013 with his first of two spells at Dewsbury Rams. He went on to enjoy three spells, including one on loan, at Doncaster, Gloucestershire All Golds (loan), and the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Wales international utility back of Marcus Webb has also joined Cougars on an initial month's loan from Hunslet.

Lovegrove, 32, makes his debut as Cougars head coach tomorrow when his side travel to fourth-placed Oldham Roughyeds in their latest league fixture.

The Australian will be hoping to stop the rot of four successive league and cup defeats for the Cougars.

Lovegrove replaces Craig Lingard who was sacked last month, despite reducing Cougars' pre-season 12-point deduction to just one point in their first few league games.

Four changes have been forced for Cougars' trip to Oldham with Benn Hardcastle and Matt Nicholson (both concussion) sidelined through injury and Louis Sheriff unavailable due to work commitments.

The other forced change is that of Harvey Hallas as the prop is a part of his parent club Dewsbury Rams squad that has travelled to Canada to face the Toronto Wolfpack.

The other changes made by Lovegrove see Taylor Prell and Kieran Moran drop out of the side.

Coming into the side is Ryan Wright, who returned to the club on loan from Hunslet this week, and also Alfie Seeley following an arm injury that forced him to sit out last week's defeat to Hunslet.

Lovegrove has also called up reserves duo Jordan Aitchison and Cain Crotty, with the former expected to debut at Whitebank.

Lewis Wray also returns following the head injury he sustained in last month's reverse fixture against Oldham.

Cougars: Aitchison; Bailey; Cooke; Coventry; Crotty; Cullimore; Dixon; Feather; Hallett; Horn; Lynam; Miller; Muranka; Parker; Seeley; Thackray; Welham; Wray; Wright.
