AS the season draws to a close a large contingent of City of Bradford Swimming Club’s swimmers travelled to the east coast to compete at the Scarborough Summer Seaside Splash Meet.

Rebecca Dunn, Ellen Winters, and Jasmine Shay all earned five gold medals in the A Grade meet.

Freddy Dean won two golds and Keighley's Finlay Foster along with Keira Hinchcliffe, Katie Wiles, Abi Naylor, Evie Hobson, Luke Winterbottom and Oscar Hobson all claimed one gold each at the meet.

In the B Grade event, Amelia Fullerton and Tyler Bower had two golds to their credit, closely followed by Jakub Marszewski, Evie Hobson and George Varley with one gold each.

Along with the gold medals there was also a host of silver and bronze medals, personal best times and new North East Region qualifying times.

Speeding tickets for swimmers too fast for the A grade event went to Oscar Hobson (3), Evie Hobson (2), Luke Winterbottom (2), Freddy Dean (2), Ella Jones, Rose Lever and Luca Curini.

In total City gained 31 golds, 29 silver and 23 bronze medals.

Winters and Dunn came first and second in the Skinz events, with Jones and John Luke Hutchinson finishing third and Fullerton fifth.

The meet was a good introduction to competitive swimming for some of City’s emerging swimmers and was a good experience for the more established swimmers, all of whom train with Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
