A KEIGHLEY Cougars supporter is getting on his trainers to take part in a charity walk.

Keith Vear is holding the 26-mile charity trek on Friday, August 2 from Cougar Park to Huddersfield Giants's home, the John Smith's Stadium.

The walk will go via other rugby league grounds including Odsal Stadium, the home of Bradford Bulls, and The Shay, the base of Halifax.

Vear, 47, is billing this as a walk up the leagues, as he visits Championship and Super League grounds.

He is completing the walk in aid of Prostate Cancer UK after he lost his father to the illness in 2001.

Vear said: "I will be starting out at Keighley Cougars then a just a 12-mile walk to Odsal to call in at Bradford Bulls.

"Onwards another 6.5 miles to visit Halifax RLFC at The Shay, then 7.5 miles to my final destination the John Smith's Stadium to visit the Giants - when the Giants will be playing Leeds Rhinos that evening, a game I will be attending.

"If by doing my challenge I can help to save just one man, by encouraging you or your loved one to be checked at the first sign of any symptoms as diagnosed early enough, there is a stronger chance it can be cured."

Vear has raised £2,565 so far through his online funding page.
