Keighley Town 0 Crossflatts Village 15
BRADFORD Sunday Alliance Premier Division champions Crossflatts Village rounded off their pre-season preparations with a resounding 15-0 thumping of their local rivals Keighley Town at Marley Stadium.
The away side gave some playing time to a few new signings, but it was their versatile midfielder Billy Bailey who stole the show thanks to an unstoppable five-goal display.
Bailey, who is dubbed 'Billwa' by his team-mates, seems to be getting better with age - and this performance must guarantee him a starting berth in the opening league game of the season on Sunday against Westwood Park at the Crossflatts Recreation Ground (11am).
New joint-managers Joe Lunn and Oliver Metcalfe will suffer a backlash from the Village fans if they leave the likeable midfielder out of their starting line-up this weekend.
Bailey has been impressive all pre-season and this performance was just the icing on the cake.
Lunn said: “On that performance, he’s got to be the first name on the team sheet.
“We just need him to play like that on a more consistent basis and he’ll have the (starting) shirt for as long as he wants it.”
