LEADERS Bingley Congs II lost by five runs at home to Thornton who, batting first, posted a moderate 96 thanks mainly to 23 extras and Ian Holden’s 20 in Mewies Solicitors Craven & District League Division Three.

Asher Nutting bowled well to finish with 7-22. But Congs were then knocked over for just 91 with Mark Paxton taking 5-14 off his allotted 12 overs, as Jamie Teale made 36.

Silsden join Bingley Congs level on points but behind on victories attained.

Silsden travelled to Embsay and, going first, posted 93 with Ben Sugden (25) top scoring as Steve Speak (3-15) was the pick of the bowlers.

Embsay II could only muster 65 in reply with Duncan Ratcliffe making 20 as Joe Sugden took 3-5 (off 12 overs) and Jack Roberts 3-18.

Embsay drop to bottom of the table after Haworth II got the better of Oakworth II by 12 runs.

Haworth posted 137-7 with Darren Ellerton making 36. He followed this with 4-29 as the hosts closed on 125.

Riddlesden’s batters were in cracking form as they amassed 283-9 in their overs with Mohammed Gulnawaz (87), Steve Kernan (54) and Mohammad Qadeer (51) leading from the front as Harry Pinkney took 5-52.

Hepworth & Idle II replied with 186-7 led by Phil Haigh and Jack Bedford, who both made 35.

Skipton CI hustled visitors Glusburn out for 42 with number 10 John Mortimer (15) being the only player in double figures.

Sam Smith and Azhar Iqbal both took 3-8 and Rob Cockell 3-19. Skipton were in a spot of trouble at 10-3 before Paul Mason 18no and Ian Burke (16no) saw them over the line.

Division Four is beset by concession at the moment – there were four this week which presents a challenge for the league executive as they try to move forward with, hopefully, new officials in place in the near future.

Leaders Denholme II are six points clear of Cowling II who didn’t have a game this week.

Denholme were at Gargrave II and posted 170-3 in their 40 overs. Chris Dennison (67) and Ryan Clark (42no) put on 65 for the fourth wickets. Gargrave could only manage 73 in reply with John Roughton making 27 as Tom Clayton took 4-17.

Adil (33 and 4-20) was the star man as Wilsden II by Airedale II by 35 runs.

The visitors struggled to 94-5 in their 40 overs as John Pollard took 4-30. Airedale made 59 as Oliver Holdsworth (5-7) joined Adil in the wickets.

Long Lee II completed a trio of away victories on the day. They were at Sandy Lane to tackle nine-man Bingley Congs III. Jan Haider (24) top scored as the visitors were dismissed for 90 as Paul Samson took 3-16 and Yvonne Baines 3-18.

Bradley II, Glusburn II and Keighley III were the conceding sides along with long term Cononley II.

Meanwhile, the league’s annual charity match, the Manorlands Plate, is due to take place at Airedale on Sunday, September 1 (1pm start). The game is a 30 overs per side match involving Division One’s second-placed side, Haworth Road, and the third-placed side, Bingley Congs.

All monies raised on the day will be donated to Manorlands Hospice, Oxenhope. The league dinner will also be an opportunity to raise more funds.
