JAMES Dabill won the Scott Trial for the fourth time, but the Cookridge international has a long way to go to match Graham Jarvis and Silsden's Dougie Lampkin who were victorious on seven occasions.

Skeeby former winner and enduro expert Jonathan Richardson set a pace none of the 179 other competitors could match. His total time was 4.59.14.

Dabill’s consistent scores through the 38 sections but Leyburn joiner Richard Sadler emerged as the lowest section scorer and that ride gained him second place ahead of Kirbymoorside Sherco team-mate Dan Peace.

Despite the fine sunny weather and drying conditions 50 competitors dropped out. British trials champion Jack Price was deemed to have missed a section on the trials route.

The Denby Dale Team JST Gas Gas competitor’s running score was just 21 penalties, so the exclusion was a bitter blow to the popular champion.

The spectator attendance was massive with all the official vehicle parks were full to overflowing. The sections were drying out and the dreaded Orgate Fall river level dropped overnight from a four-foot deep raging torrent to a navigable one foot – in places. The special awards list featured many local riders. Dabill was the best Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club competitor. Bradford’s Charlie Smith won the Spen Valley M.C.C. trophy.

The retirement of Ben Hemingway and exclusion of Jack Price ended any hopes of the Club team awards.

Meanwhile, the Horsforth Club headed north to Greenhow on Sunday where the rain greeted 45 trials riders of all ages and sizes.

The entire entry were aiming to score points in the Simon Green Championship series. The event marked the ninth in the series.

Only four riders contested he hard section where Inter grade contender Anthony Ayrton was the clear winner from Steven Fowler.

Clubman A was a different story as timber merchant Rob Hardisty and technical engineer Paul Jackson rode every section without penalties leaving chimney sweep Phillip Hammond to take third place on a two-mark score.

Graham Sanderson also won the Clubman B class on a zero score.

Despite the weather ten girls and boys competed on the separate Small Wheels sections where Arthur Wright, Ruby Lawrie and Austin Abdale ruled.

The club will now be preparing for the annual 9 Bob Owen Charity Trial on November 9 at the Parkwood Offroad Centre at Tong. The trial will feature all classes.

Meanwhile, the Spen club headed for the Parkwood Offroad Centre at Tong to stage their sixth RAS Sport championship trial.

Again the series was well supported with 50 riders contesting four section routes.

Nine sections were plotted in the dense woodland and four laps produced a tight low scoring event.

Huddersfield teenager Will Tolson maintained his top form to win the championship class from Jake Walker and Adam Howling.

Clubman A was tight. Ben Francis just held off top Falcon rider Andrew Jackson and David Petty Steve Farrington and John Wilkinson rode the entire Clubman B route with incurring any penalties.
