THE future is bright for Crosshills Tennis Club as they enter a new era with the installation of court floodlights.

The switch-on of the new lights, which members celebrated with fizz and tennis on Friday evening, at the club will enable play all year at any time of day.

Club chairman Glenn Frost said: "We've been planning this a long time. I was very pleased on Friday night.

"The aim is to extend the time of play in the winter to those who want to play in the evening after work.

"We are hoping for an increase in memberships as we can now attract that different demographic.

"We used some savings from the club fund and, thanks to our fundraising activities and generous funding from Yorkshire Tennis, we have finally succeeded in achieving all-year round tennis."

Cross Hills also have a great junior club which provides coaching from ages of four up to teenagers on Sunday mornings.

Social tennis will resume on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm onwards with everyone welcome.
