AN 11-year-old boy has been dubbed a "great role model" after winning a bronze medal at a British taekwondo event.

Muhammad Hadi Ejaz, a year six pupil at Steeton Primary, finished third at the British Taekwondo Championships in Manchester.

His team, Horizon Taekwondo Academy, also came second place overall.

He will be showcasing his talents in an assembly presentation to the whole school in the new year.

Kevin Wheeler, Steeton Primary School's head of school, said: "We are very proud of having such a talented pupil here at Steeton.

"Muhammad Hadi is a great role model for all our children.

"As a school councillor and dedicated student he transfers the discipline required in his sport to his everyday life.

"He is keeping sporting success in the family as both his brother Ehsan and sister Saliah, who are both past pupils, have progressed from being medal winning athletes to taekwondo judges."
