CITY of Bradford’s swimmers had a successful series of Yorkshire Championships in Leeds and Sheffield, coming home with medals, a club record and a plethora of final placings.

Keighley teenager Sam Akers put in a masterful display to secure five individual top-ten finishes.

He showed great teamwork too, displaying that as part of the boys' 15/16 years medley team alongside Callum Mawson, Fraser Buxton and Jamie Connolly.

The quartet finished 10th, with an impressive time of just over two minutes (2.05.34).

Meanwhile, swimming in the 10/11 years age group, Evie Hobson claimed City’s highest placing of the Championships, with a second place finish in the 50m breaststroke.

She also finished fifth in the 200m breaststroke in a time of 3.16.16.

The club record was claimed by 13-year-old Keira Hinchcliffe in the 1500m freestyle event.

She also placed sixth in the 200m event.

Finally, the boys' 13-14 years freestyle team, consisting of Jakub Marszewski, Oscar Hobson, Luke Winterbottom and Josh Hutchinson finished in 10th with a time of 2.01.54.
