ECCLESHILL United produced a fine comeback in their home pre-season friendly against Pontefract Collieries, turning an early 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory.

The hosts almost equalised instantly, only for Jonny Irving to see his shot hit the crossbar.

But they were then grateful for Brad Emmerson, who made a fine double save just before half-time to ensure his side only went into the break a goal down.

After a slow start to the second half, Eccleshill equalised just after the hour mark, when Aran Basi curled home an excellent free kick from just outside the box.

The Eagles went on to claim victory late on, after Sumaili Cissa ran on to a ball over the top, before pulling the ball back to substitute Tabish Hussain to smash home the winner.

Liversedge eased to a 2-0 win over Irlam thanks to a goal in each half, courtesy of Paul Walker and Michael Bottomley.

But there was disappointment for Albion Sports and Silsden, who both conceded five.

Albion were beaten 5-0 at a strong Tadcaster Albion side, while Silsden, who were drawing 2-2 at home to Mossley with just 10 minutes to go, collapsed late on to lose 5-2.

Finally, Brighouse Town drew 0-0 with Matlock Town and Barnoldswick Town lost 3-0 to Colne.
