STEETON are still waiting to play their first friendly in front of fans, after their game at Thackley this evening was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

But they do have a home game, which will take place in front of no more than 150 fans, against Avro on Saturday.

That game will be taking place at Summerhill Lane rather than Marley.

After that, Steeton currently have three away friendlies pencilled in, against Silsden on September 5, Harrogate Railway on September 8 and Barlick A on September 12.

Their first competitive game is at home to Jarrow on September 19 in the FA Vase.

But their North West Counties League First Division North season will not be getting underway until October 3.

That date was set at the start of this month and has not been changed, despite fans now being allowed into games, as the league wants to give teams ample preparation time.

Meanwhile, Silsden’s scheduled friendly at Oxenhope Recreation this evening also fell victim to the weather.

Oxenhope did manage to get a game in last Saturday at least, as they earned a 2-2 draw with Silsden Whitestar.

Their reserves played that afternoon too, losing 2-1 at Burley Trojans.

The first team are preparing for their West Yorkshire League Division One season to start on September 12, with a home game against Wyke Wanderers.
