BRADFORD CITY'S Football Development Programme is getting much bigger, taking on another six age groups.

The FDP currently takes on young City stars from the Under-15s and above, right up to U-23 level.

The younger prospects (U9-U14) come under the Community Foundation, but that will all change from September.

The Community Foundation's Development Centre is moving to the FDP, meaning the latter will absorb those younger age groups.

The head of the FDP, Adam Fox, said: "This is something that was in our long-term plan when we set out and will be another fantastic step for the FDP.

"Qas (coach Qasim Akhtar) and the staff have done a fantastic job with these groups and that makes the move across so much easier.

"It will enable us to work with players even further and make clear the FDP way, and will continue to be a great support for the Academy too, we hope."

Youngsters involved with City have a good track record, with a superb FA Youth Cup run last season, under the tutelage of current first-team interim managers Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars, only ended by the mighty Chelsea.

Meanwhile, FDP goalkeeper Kyle Welsh made his first-team debut for Silsden last month.
