DANNY Whitaker returns to the ring this weekend as part of a top night of boxing action.

The Silsden fighter, nicknamed 'Big Dawg', will take on Johnny Fisher as part of the Eddie Hearn-fronted Matchroom promotion's latest event, held this Saturday night.

Whitaker's bout will form part of the undercard for the IBF World Featherweight title clash between Kid Galahad and Jazza Dickens.

The fights will take place at Matchroom headquarters in Brentwood in Essex as part of their 'Fight Week' event.

It will be the first time Whitaker has been in action since he lost his Central Area heavyweight title fight on points to Chris Healey in Sheffield in June.

Whitaker has a record of four wins and three defeats in his professional career so far.

'Big Dawg' faces a stern test as his opponent on Saturday, Fisher, has won both of his career fights by knockout.

But Whitaker is no stranger to the TV cameras having previously battled in fights broadcast live on BT Sport. This saw his defeat prospect Jonathan Palata in December 2019 in the Ultimate Boxxer event after being drafted in as a last-minute replacement.

Other bouts on Saturday night's card include an English Heavyweight Title clash between Fabio Wardley and a women's fight between Ebanie Bridges and Bec Connolly.
