IT was a mixed preliminary round in the FA Youth Cup for the teams in the Bradford District in midweek.
Silsden, whose side contains several players associated with Bradford City, were the ones who were left happiest though.
They romped to a 3-0 victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels, with one of the goalscorers, Lewis Gartland, having only played the night before, coming on as a late substitute for the first team in their league win at Goole.
Eccleshill United were so close to joining the Cobbydalers in the next round, but they suffered a heartbreaking defeat on penalties.
After drawing 1-1 at Frickley Athletic, they lost 4-2 in the shootout.
And there was a West Yorkshire derby at Brighouse Town, as they went up against Farsley Celtic.
It was the Celts youngsters who came out on top on the night, winning a thrilling encounter 4-2.
After going through, Silsden will host Grimsby Borough in the first qualifying round, in the week commencing September 13.
Bradford (Park Avenue) welcome Emley, while Guiseley entertain Tadcaster Albion.
