FOR now it is a case of as you were for Super League, Championship and League 1 clubs, with no restructure of the top three tiers until at least 2024.
There was talk of this being put in place for 2023, with the potential prospect of two tiers of 10 for the best 20 rugby league teams involved in the British game (inclusive of French duo Catalans Dragons and Toulouse Olympique).
But following a meeting of Championship and League 1 clubs earlier this week, it has been deemed any restructure will take a long time to implement, and will not likely be in place until at least 2024.
All of this means that the 2022 season will proceed with the same format as 2021, with one-up, one-down between Super League and the Championship, and two-up, two-down between the second tier and League 1.
