ON New Year’s Eve, the Daleside Auld Lang Syne fell race, organised by Wharfedale Harriers, took place.

This 6.7mile event, with 1000ft of climbing, starts from the quarry bottom on Penistone, goes along the Bronte way and up to the ruins of Top Withens, before returning downhill to finish at the cricket pitch on Penistone Hill.

Dave Robson was the first Harrier home in 21st place in a great time of 53:54.

He was closely followed by Gavin Lamb in 55:08 and Kate Archer in 57:42 who was fourth lady to finish.

New Year’s Day saw a great turn out of Ilkley Harriers at the timed parkrun events.

A great result for Tom Lambe who was first finisher at the hilly Horton Parkrun in a time of 21:21. Michael Abrams-Cohen finished in second place at the Roundhay parkrun in a great time of 18:31.

Junior Harrier, Archie Budding, took third place at the Chevin Forest parkrun, running this in a time of 20:16.

Down south Rachel Carter was the first lady to finish at the Folkstone parkrun, Rachel racing this in a great time of 20:03.

Also down south Catherine Gibbons was the third lady to finish at the Richmond parkrun in a time of 21:58.

And there were top ten finishes for Harry Stead at the Woodhouse Moor parkrun as well as Justin Pierce and Steve Newell at Bradford.
