KEIGHLEY Cougars are today delighted to welcome James Barber to the club as our newly appointed club physiotherapist.
Arriving at Cougar Park, Barber was appointed by the club following the application and interview process encouraged by the rugby and medical department in early December.
James joins the club with a BSc Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation degree from Leeds Trinity University and has gained experience working within Rugby union, for Yorkshire Badminton and more recently in Rugby League with community clubs Oulton Raiders and Bramley Buffaloes.
Head of Rugby Andrew Henderson spoke encouragingly of Barbers appointment.
“James is a young, ambitious individual with a desire to work in professional rugby league.
“He impressed in the interview process, and we felt that he fits what we represent here at the Keighley Cougars.
“So far, he has built a good relationship with the playing group and staff, displayed a strong work ethic and attention to detail. He has also demonstrated a willingness to learn and improve.
“With having quality Heads of departments in place, Dr Richard Lawrance as Head of Medical and Chris Black as Head of performance, James has a strong support network to allow him to develop further.”
Barber completes the medical team for 2022 lead by the club’s Head of Medical and leading cardiologist Dr Richard Lawrance, who has extensive Super League experience.
He will have assistance from Steph Petty (Team Masseuse), and Physiotherapist Darran Millar (Medical Support).
