THE Keighley and District Table Tennis League are delighted, and proud, to announce that they will be hosting a special evening with guest of honour Sandra Deaton, Chairperson of Table Tennis England.

Deaton will be hosting a question and answer session at the Keighley Table Tennis Centre, on 229 South Street in Keighley, next Monday (March 14) from 7pm onwards.

This is a rare opportunity for all members to speak directly to the head of Table Tennis in England and pose any questions or concerns they may have about table tennis in general, but specifically the role of the Keighley and District Table Tennis League.

Deaton is a retired business director and started her professional career as a physical education teacher in 1971.

She has been involved in table tennis for more than 50 years and was the chair of the East Midland Region for almost 14 years, bringing together the development and coaching groups under one organisation.

She was also a member of the Governing Body Management team from 2002 to 2007, taking on the role of vice-chairperson of selection and performance in July 2013.

Deaton has been involved in the organisation of a number of National Championships and was an integral part of the team delivering the two most recent English Opens.

She was a member of the athlete services team for the London Olympics.

Deaton is also the first female chairperson of Table Tennis England and her daughter Nicola was five-times national table tennis champion and England No. 1 for five consecutive years.

The committee feels the visit of Deaton is an excellent opportunity for members to speak to someone at the very heart of English Table Tennis and to put their concerns and queries forward from a regional perspective.

The Keighley and District Table Tennis League is one of the most well-established leagues in Yorkshire and boosts some of the finest facilities available at the Keighley Business Park.

Ten individual bays are available, all separated by floor to ceiling netting and state of the art tables.

In addition to this, the centre has a coffee lounge, toilets and showers.

The league comprises of 24 teams.
