KEIGHLEY hosted Gomersal at the weekend in their Bradford Premier League Division One match looking to make it two wins on the bounce, and they did just that, with Australian Noah McFadyen the star of the show once more.

He hit 121, recording his third century of the season, as Keighley chased down a big total to win by six wickets.

Gomersal skipper and Keighley old boy Richard Wear won the toss and did not hesitate in wanting to bat first on yet another fabulously prepared wicket that looked a batsman's paradise.

Gomersal openers Graham Hilton (33) and Liam Fletcher (25) got the away team off to a quick start.

And despite being pegged back in the middle overs with tight bowling, Wear (55) and Andy Gorrod (45) gave the middle to lower order a platform to swing the bat in the last 10 overs.

Jonathan Boynton (55 in 45 deliveries) and overseas starlet Lwandiswa Zuma (33 in 16 deliveries) duly obliged, taking Gomersal to a daunting 275-5 in their allotted 50 overs.

Simon Bailey was Keighley’s most successful bowler with 2-42.

Keighley skipper Scott Etherington injured his hand in the first innings and decided to let McFadyen take his opening slot alongside Billy Whitford.

And it was Whitford that got the Lawkolme Laners' reply off to a swift start, hitting a quick 30 before being caught with the score on 50, which brought Nathan Storton to the crease.

Storton and McFadyen have already shared several large partnerships this season and that proved the case again, as the pair steadily built impressive innings.

They put 144 on for the second wicket before Storton finally succumbed for 74, which included eleven fours and one six.

But McFadyen was not yet finished and the Australian went on to score an impressive 121 before being caught in the deep.

His impressive innings included 14 fours and three sixes and helped to get his team to the winning target with wickets to spare.

The win helps to cement Keighley's mid-table position and a win at home to East Ardsley this weekend would see them potentially pushing nearer the higher end of the table.

Keighley’s second eleven meanwhile made it four wins in a row following the long journey to Ossett in Reserves Division Two of the Bradford Premier League.

Keighley skipper Jamie Wilmshurst won the toss and decided to field first on an uneven wicket that he hoped might aid his bowling attack.

And so it proved, as opening bowlers Harry Barker (2-33) and veteran Steve Butterfield (2-22) made early inroads into the Ossett line up.

And despite a punchy 40 from Tom Jenkinson, Keighley’s young spinner pairing of Louie Wilkinson (3-45) and Awais Khan (2-15) destroyed the middle to lower order, with Ossett being dismissed for 119 in the 29th over.

Keighley’s nervy reply saw them in trouble at 53-5 but Azeem Hussain and Adam Smith each scored 29 and steadied the ship, helping the away team to reach the winning target in the 37th over with three wickets to spare.
